DILATIONS in Geometry |
Always one of my favorite activities! Dilations in Geometry teach students about making their own enlargements and reductions, creating their own grids, scales and testing their artistic abilities. I really appreciated the time they put in to their drawings and love to see the final product. Great work you guys!

MATHCOUNTS COMES TO END
Another year of MathCounts is coming to a close and these students rocked it this year! Congratulations to these four for making it to the Northeast Region Chapter Competition in Columbus, NE on February 1st. Chelsey, Summer, Izaak and Kasen were top four at the School level and moved on to the next level of competition, testing both the individual and team skills. Overall, the team finished 7th out of 12 schools, and Izaak placed 22nd out of 68 kids for the our best-scorer for the day. I am extremely proud of their efforts and all the work they have put in this year! Excited for next year and another group of Math-letes!
CONIC SECTIONS IN TRIG
The Conic Card Sort is always a good activity for the Trigonometry students and gives them a chance to learn properties for themselves. It never hurts to have a partner help you out with strategy, but overall these guys learned some great tricks to sorting out properties of equations. Great work you guys, keep it up!
THE TABLE |
The Table. The pictures are worth a thousand words. These kids might hate it, but what a great learning activity for the Geometry students! Over 120 angles and a boat load of angle knowledge happening here. Great work!

MATHCOUNTS PARTY!!
One of my favorite times of year! I love getting these kiddos together to just have fun and celebrate a little. And a little math scavenger hunt never hurts either. We had a great holiday party with EVERY Mathcounts student along for the fun. Thanks for bringing the snacks and the intense games of hide-n-seek, spoons and 99. Have a great break you guys!
'Tis The Season |
Nothing rings in the Christmas season like some good old fashioned ornaments...or some ICOSAHEDRON ornaments I should say. Now that might be a little math-y of a term, but they turned out pretty cool if you ask me! We had a chill couple of days ringing in the Christmas season, listening to Christmas music and making some decor. Anna and Bree may have even found a new fashion statement. Have a great break Geometry students!

Best Students Ever :)
Levi and Trey just made the nice list, and they might even get a few brownie points for this one! The welding class has been working on horseshoe projects for the last few weeks and these two surprised me with this awesome addition for my room! Thank you for the wonderful gift boys, I love it!
Algebra Students Hard at It!
Algebra can be difficult! And even more difficult as an 8th grader! I am so proud of the work that these students have been putting in try and sort it all out. We try to incorporate some hands-on activities to make things a little more interesting so this is a snapshot of that work being done. Great work you guys and keep it up!
1,249 students from 93 Nebraska high schools participated in the 30th annual UNL Math Day on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, on the UNL campus. The event is designed to spark high school students' interest in math, to encourage them to pursue a career in mathematics or the mathematical sciences, and to recognize outstanding mathematical ability. The event consisted of the PROBE I and PROBE II individual competitions and the fast-paced Math Bowl double-elimination team competition. Verdigre brought four students to the competition that day, Savannah, Jordon, Brandon and Rane. They did an excellent job and enjoyed the experience. Hopefully it opened their eyes to all the avenues available to math students and will get them excited for future math contests this year. Great work you guys!
3-D Names |
Check out these sweet 3D names made by the Geometry students! Great work you guys!
|
Every year, Algebra students need a little refresher on graphing coordinates. What better way than with coordinate cartoons! Some took longer than others, but overall the final products turned out great and made for a little fun when reviewing an old concept. Good work!

NEw YEar...NEW ROOM |
One of my favorite things about a new school year is getting to redesign my room. I have kept some of the old but updated a few things this year to give the math room a fresh look in 2019. Feel free to come check it out sometime...but you have to stay and do some math too!

MATHCOUNTS IS BACK AT IT!
Another year in math class means another season of MathCounts is in full swing! So excited for the group of 6th-8th graders I have this year participating in this great program to extend their math skills beyond the classroom. Not going to lie, they are putting my baking skills to the test, but so far have cleaned up every single treat I have brought to the meetings, so that must be a good sign. It's going to be a great year!
3-D Shapes in Geometry!
Talk about a visual! These guys are getting some practice with using their visualizing skills to interpret a 3-D figure in 2-D form. It is a little tricky at first, but I think they are getting the hang of it. Great work Geometry students!
